Duties
- Assist customers in locating books and recommend titles based on their interests, enhancing their shopping experience
- Operate the Square POS system, handle retail sales transactions, and manage cash drawer with accuracy and integrity
- Stock shelves efficiently, organize displays, and ensure the store remains clean, inviting, and well-merchandised
- Conduct product demos or showcase new arrivals to engage customers and boost sales opportunities
- Upsell related items such as accessories or gift cards to maximize store revenue
- Maintain knowledge of store products, including books, gift items, and related merchandise to provide informed assistance
- Support inventory management by receiving shipments, stocking shelves, and conducting stock counts
Requirements
- Previous retail sales or grocery store experience is preferred but not required; a strong willingness to learn is essential
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly phone etiquette to assist customers over the phone or in person
- Supervising experience is advantageous for those interested in future leadership opportunities
- Ability to perform stocking duties, merchandising tasks, and maintain organized displays efficiently
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle cash handling responsibilities responsibly
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge and familiarity with retail math principles are highly desirable
