Occupational Therapist | Outpatient Rehabilitation | Hospital-Based

Rooted Insights

If You Enjoy

A varied caseload that keeps you clinically engaged, this role offers the opportunity to work across both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. You'll support patients recovering from orthopedic conditions, neurological diagnoses, surgery, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, concussion, and functional decline.

One Thing That Stood Out

The clinical variety. This isn't an OT position where you'll spend every day treating the same patient population. You'll have the opportunity to work across inpatient and outpatient care while also utilizing or developing specialty skills in areas such as hand therapy, custom orthosis fabrication, lymphedema management, cognition, vision, and home safety.

Schedule Snapshot

Full-time, Monday through Friday with 8-hour days and flexibility to begin between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. There is occasional inpatient weekend coverage.

Recruiter's Perspective

Hospital-based OT opportunities that offer both broad generalist experience and room to build specialty expertise aren't always easy to find. This position gives an Occupational Therapist the chance to maintain a diverse skill set while developing deeper expertise in areas such as hand therapy or lymphedema. For an OT who doesn't want to be boxed into one narrow setting or patient population, this is a strong opportunity.

Position Highlights

Location: East-Central Nebraska

Setting: Hospital-Based Inpatient & Outpatient Rehabilitation

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour days

Start Time: Flexible between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Weekend Coverage: Occasional inpatient rotation

Specialty Opportunities: Hand Therapy, Lymphedema, Orthosis Fabrication, Neurological Rehabilitation

Professional Development: Support for specialty certifications and continuing education

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

If you're an Occupational Therapist who enjoys variety, this position gives you the chance to practice across both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation without having to choose one setting exclusively.

Your caseload can span orthopedic and upper-extremity conditions alongside more complex neurological and functional rehabilitation. You may work with patients recovering from surgery, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, concussion, generalized weakness, and other conditions affecting their ability to safely and independently navigate everyday life.

There is also a meaningful specialty component to this position. OTs with an interest in hand therapy can work with upper-extremity musculoskeletal and neurological diagnoses, including custom orthosis and splint fabrication. Experience in lymphedema management is valued as well, creating an opportunity for therapists with CHT or CLT credentials to put those skills to work.

You won't practice in isolation. This is part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation department where collaboration is built into the patient-care model. At the same time, you'll have the clinical autonomy to evaluate patients, develop individualized plans of care, and determine the interventions that can make the greatest difference in their independence and function.

The schedule is another advantage. You'll work primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility around your morning start time, while occasional weekend coverage allows the inpatient rehabilitation program to maintain continuity of care.

For an OT who wants to continue growing rather than simply step into another routine therapy position, there's room here to do that. The department supports continuing education and specialty certification while also welcoming therapists who want to contribute ideas to program development and the growth of rehabilitation services.
