Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of our clinic by providing animal care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring a positive experience for pet owners. Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with clinical procedures, including medication administration, animal restraint, and sample collection.
- Provide compassionate pet care, including maintaining cleanliness of animals in kennels and treatment areas.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, including dog handling, animal handling experience as needed.
- Support front desk operations by managing appointments, patient records, and client communication.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure laboratory safety standards.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as sample processing and basic diagnostic testing under supervision.
- Monitor animal physiology and anatomy during examinations and treatments to assist in diagnosis and recovery.
- Assist with specialized procedures such as animal catheterization or other veterinary critical care tasks.
- Ensure the cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, and equipment following proper animal husbandry practices.
- Support pet owners with pet care advice and post-treatment instructions.
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred.
- Experience working as a veterinary assistant is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, pet care, and animal physiology is essential.
- Skills in animal restraint, medication administration, and animal handling are required.
- Laboratory experience or familiarity with aseptic techniques is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for front desk duties and client interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous veterinary clinic experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate committed to learning and growth in the field. Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
