Court Liaison, Alternatives to Detention

ATD (Alternative to Detention) is an intensive community-based program serving court-involved youth between the ages of 12 and 18 who have been mandated to an ATD program by the Family Court pending disposition of their court case. The Court Liaison will be present in court to perform intake, supply information, and respond to inquiries about participants and/or the program to youth, families, and Family Court personnel such as judges, clerks, attorneys, and court liaisons.

Location: 330 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201/692 Blake Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11207

Hours: 35 Hours/Per Week

Salary: $48,000-$53,000/Yr.

Major Duties Of The Court Liaison

• Work collaboratively with court staff to facilitate program admissions.
• Interviewing clients and families after referral from Family Court judges
• Preparing documents with family for program intake
• Attend court dates for caseload as needed
• Travel to New York City courts and detention facilities as needed
• Work with Service Coordinator to make referrals to appropriate community resources for participants and family members.
• Present program documentation to court personnel as needed
• Meet with the Program Director for bi-weekly supervision.
• Participate in case conferences and staff meetings.
• Communicate with ACS and DOP staff as appropriate.
• Use internal and external databases as required.
• Participate in development and implementation of processes that ensure integration of participant feedback in program planning.
• Participate in agency work groups and committees.
• Participate in all ACS training and technical assistance sessions as required.

Court Liaison Qualifications

• Experience and comfort working with court-involved youth
• Experience and comfort working with families.
• BA in social work or related field required, MA preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally competent services
• Familiarity with strength-based and trauma informed practices.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Bilingual preferred.
