Assistant Teacher
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Schedule: The regular work hours are when the preschool is in session, Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and Tuesday/Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. An additional hour-long staff meeting each week will be part of your contracted time. There will also be a few programs throughout the year outside of the contracted time that are required. The Good Shepherd school year runs September through May.
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Assistant to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will help create a nurturing and stimulating environment for 2-6 year old children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. They are to embody and uphold the mission of Good Shepherd Preschool “to provide an excellent, age appropriate learning experience in a Christian environment.”
Duties
- Help maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and learning while meeting the physical, social, emotional, and creative needs of the students
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, using positive reinforcement techniques to guide student interactions.
- Collaborate with other educators to enhance the educational experience for all students.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education workshops approved by the director
- Attend school concerts and programs outlined by the staff handbook
- Support the Director of Good Shepherd in recruiting new families and maintain current family relationships through positive relationships with both parents and students
- Be a Christian role model for students, staff, and parents
Skills
- Able to lift 30 pounds.
- Proficient in classroom management techniques to maintain an effective learning environment.
- Experience in behavior management strategies to address diverse student needs.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
- Interest & dedication to quality Christian preschool education.
- Experience working with young children.
- High School Diploma or GED
