Summary of the Position:
To support the health and well-being of nursing home residents by ensuring a consistently clean and hygienic living environment. To take direction from the Executive Housekeeper and complete listed tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Duties
- Pull trash from assigned rooms
- Clean and disinfect: Dayrooms, Nurses Stations, Staff Lounge, Staff Bathrooms, and Shower Rooms
- Clean and disinfect resident rooms (bedside commodes, bathroom, floors, surfaces, bedsides)
- Empty trash and replace liners (general waste and biohazard if applicable)
- Sweep and mop resident’s rooms and clean baseboards (use ghost buster when needed)
- Count Linens
- Wipe down high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, handrails, light switches)
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms (toilets, sinks, mirrors, dispensers)
- Replenish supplies (toilet paper, soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels)
- Clean fingerprints and smudges on windows and clean window sills
- Dust and Clean vents, radiators, and oxygen tanks (including filters)
- Check for and report maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, loose tiles, broken equipment)
Weekly Duties (Resident’s Rooms)
- Deep clean resident rooms (behind furniture, under beds)
- Clean and polish furniture
- Dust light fixtures
Monthly Duties (Resident Rooms)
- Clean televisions using disinfectant soap on cabinets. Use soft cloth to clean front of glass
- Clean beds including wiping mattress with disinfectant soap
Job Requirement’s and Skills:
- Attention to detail and cleanliness standards.
- Understanding of hygiene and sanitation protocols, especially for healthcare settings
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Compassion and respect for elderly residents.
- Use PPE as required (gloves, masks, gowns for isolation rooms)
- Follow infection control procedures and protocols
- Label and store cleaning products properly
- Maintain housekeeping carts and storage rooms in clean condition
- Attend training on infection control, safety, and cleaning procedures
- Must be able to take and follow verbal and written instructions given by the Executive Housekeeper
Professional Conduct & Communication
- Coordinate with nursing or facility staff to avoid disrupting resident routines.
- Show respect and sensitivity toward elderly residents.
- Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor at all times.
Physical Requirement’s:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be comfortable working around residents with various physical and cognitive health issues.
Experience/Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
