What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bremmer Aide-Overnights position at Good Shepherd Lutheran Services?
Hours: Non-Exempt. Overnights-10-hour shifts. 2-3 shifts per week.

Job Summary: We provide direct resident care services with attention directed toward improving or maintaining optimal physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. Bremmer Aides promote resident choice and allow resident to maintain as much independence as possible according to resident’s care plan.
Work Environment: Well lighted and ventilated. Spacious, friendly and typically quiet. Exposure to chemical and respiratory hazards. Exposure to potentially hazardous drugs. Exposure to body fluids, infection, odors and behavior of clients.
Essential Functions:
• Light housekeeping which might include all or some of the following: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and other household chores as assigned. • Assist resident with personal cares as identified in master care plan. Cares may include assisting with dressing, grooming, bathing, shampooing hair, applying lotions, fingernail or footcare, redirection of residents as needed and other cares as assigned.
• Assist residents with continence products. Along with glasses and hearing aids.
• Take and record vitals as assigned, report to RN any changes or concerns.
• Serve meals with minor food preparation. Fill out food requisitions as assigned.
• Medication admin and reminders as delegated by RN.
• Observe residents and report to LPN or RN changes top client’s physical/emotional condition such as, changes in attitude, appearance, appetite, weight etc.
• Daily-Periodic admin work such as filing, delivering mail and stocking supplies.
• Periodic responsibilities might include emergency response, assisting ill/fallen residents.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to work with computers, resident pendants, BP machines and other equipment used by the facility.
• Knowledge of emergency policies/procedures and how to respond in an emergency.
• Must accurately and objectively chart as directed.
• Must show alertness when answering resident pendants.
Physical Demands:
• Regularly required to stand, bend and walk. May also be required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push and pull.
• Occasionally assigned to lift or move objects.

Qualifications:
A. Education-
• Able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of our agency’s orientation and training for unlicensed personnel.
• Has been determined competent to provide services and follow our agency’s procedure.
• Orientation and training may be modified if employee has successfully completed an approved NA training and is currently on the MN Nurse Aid Registry.
B. Personal-

• Organizational Skills- able to self-direct/plan/prioritize. Use initiative and confidence to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Good Observation Skills- remains constantly alert to observe changes in resident’s status and report to the RN or family.
• Interpersonal Skills- be patient and understanding with residents, family and coworkers. Be enthusiastic and keep a positive attitude. Sensitivity to the needs and feelings of the residents and families.
• Confidentiality- with verbal and written information.
• Problem Solving Skills- Able to remain positive and objective individually and as a team-anticipate and recognize potential and actual problems.
