Definition of Position:
Provides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs Diagnostic Radiography Procedures:
- Corroborates the patient’s clinical history with the procedure, ensuring relevant information is documented and available to the licensed practitioner.
- Prepares patients for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Selects and operates radiographic equipment and associated devices to achieve diagnostic results.
- Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient’s abilities and comfort.
- Immobilizes patients as required to obtain appropriate imaging.
- Determines exposure technique factors, minimizing radiation exposure to the patient and others.
- Evaluates images for technical quality and ensures proper identification is recorded.
- Verifies informed consent and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures.
- Practices aseptic techniques as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for the patient’s physical and emotional needs during procedures.
- In accordance with state statutes and/or institutional policy: prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Initiates basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
- Assists a licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of a formal, accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certifications:
- Licensed in the State of Oregon as a Radiologic Technologist
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Must be in good general health.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift 100 pounds or more.
- Frequent sitting and/or standing throughout the work shift is required.
- Occasional lifting of supplies and/or equipment.
- Manual dexterity and mobility are essential.
- Ability to operate office equipment and perform general office duties.
Salary : $32 - $49
