Audio Visual Technician

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Claremont, California, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are a family-sized, multi-generational congregation, with approximately 30 in-person worshippers each Sunday, and another 30 online. We have a Sunday worship service that starts at 9:30 AM, along with occasional midweek services throughout the year. 

We are currently looking for an AUDIOVISUAL TECHNICIAN to enhance our in-person and online worship experiences.

Part Time: 4 hours/week

Salary Range: $18-$22 Hourly 

AVL Technician 

Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Available for: Weekend services, Midweek rehearsals & Occasional Evening or Off-Site Events

SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating and maintaining audio, visual, and streaming systems to support engaging and seamless worship services and events. Collaborates closely with worship leaders to create high-quality in-person and streamed worship experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Operate and maintain professional audio equipment, including Mackie CR1604-VLZ and Behringer 24-Bit Multi-FX consoles, microphones, in-ear monitors, and Universal Audio interfaces.

2.  Mix front-of-house and livestream audio for worship services and special events.

3.  Set up and run video systems, including broadcast and DSLR cameras, switchers, and monitors.

4.  Collaborate with the worship team, musicians, and event leaders to deliver cohesive and inspiring experiences.

5.  Support live event recordings, and multimedia presentations using ProPresenter, PowerPoint, OBS, Word, Zoom. Manage sound and video screen presentation/recording on Sunday mornings. This includes slides and videos, song lyrics and balancing of sound including vocal mics and musical instrumentation for the congregation and YouTube.

6.  Perform regular system checks and preventive maintenance on AVL equipment.

7. Troubleshoot technical issues in high-pressure environments with poise and professionalism.

8. Stay current with industry trends and technologies; participate in ongoing training and development.

9. Assist with editing and post-production of video and audio content as needed.

OTHER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond calmly and professionally to crises as they occur.

Use computers proficiently, including Microsoft Office, OBS, and media presentation tools.

Perform other duties as requested by the Pastor.

Assist with AVL equipment inventory and storage organization.

Skills and Qualifications:

1.  Familiar with PowerPoint, OBS, Word, Zoom, and other audiovisual software.

2.  Experience working with sound boards, microphones, and recording cameras.

3.  Ability to maintain and operate equipment and software. 

4.  Ability to train volunteers to operate the systems.

5.  Ability to make recommendations for improvements to our systems.

6.  Ability to work well with others and participate collegially with staff members, the pastor, and congregational leaders.
