What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Classroom Teacher position at Good Shepherd Catholic Parish?
The Elementary Classroom Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The teacher is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. He/She is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools, and cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education and helps build a Catholic culture in the school, ordered towards discipleship.
The teacher has a passion for:
- Sharing the person of Jesus Christ, the Logos, with students every day through their teaching and personal life witness.
- Teaching curriculum from the heart of the Church to help form students in a Christian way of seeing reality (Catholic worldview).
- Supporting students in the formation of their imaginations to see sacramentally: To see the way God designed reality through science, ordered it logically through math, moved and worked through human history; To behold beauty in art and music; To see in physical formation and sport a way to grow in the ability to be a gift of self to others; To meet the person of Jesus and his Church through catechesis and theology.

Specific Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervision of Students/Classroom Instruction
- Active, Effective Supervision for Student Safety (Including Recess and Lunch Duties)
- Plan, Deliver, and Assess High Quality Lessons Tied to Archdiocesan Standards
- Integrate Catholic Faith (Prayer, Virtue Development, Doctrine, Saints, Liturgy) Into Classroom Instruction and Culture.
- Scaffold And Differentiate Instruction Based on Student Data and Performance as well as According to Learning Plans (504s) as Needed
- Maintain Accurate Student Attendance and Academic Records
- Maintain a Safe, Orderly, and Secure Learning and Work Environment
- Maintains Confidentiality and Discretion Regarding School and Classroom Matters
Preparation, Grading, and Professional Tasks
- Lesson Preparation
- Grading and Analyzing Student Performance
- Staff/Department Meetings
- Professional Development
Partnership with Parents
- Weekly/Monthly Newsletter
- Individual, Proactive Communication w/ Parents
- Parent Teacher Conferences (2x per year)

Qualifications:
Required
- Be A Fully Initiated Catholic in the Communion of the Catholic Church and Intentionally Living Out the Five Precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
- A Deep Love for Children of All Ages and Commitment to their Academic, Spiritual, Moral, and Social Growth
- Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal and Written
Preferred
- 2 Years’ Experience as a Teacher, Trainer, Or Equivalent
- Experience Creating Engaging Lessons
- Experience In Assessing Students and Analyzing Student Data
