Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducts initial spiritual assessments to identify spiritual needs of our patients and family members and incorporate this into the individualized plan of care.
• Provides effective interventions on initial and subsequent visits to meet the unique goals of our patients and family members.
• Provides outreach and education/support to facilities and other community resources
• Maintains relationships with local spiritual /faith providers and resources
• Serves as spiritual support for staff regarding issues of grief and loss as it related to their professional roles
• Participates in Ethics and other relevant committees to enhance our overall program
• participates in the ongoing development of the role of Chaplain within the agency and within community facilities
  
  

Job Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Divinity or related field required. Degree must be from an accredited program.
• 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required
• Board Certification preferred
• Two years of experience in spiritual care/pastoral counseling
• One year of chaplaincy work with dying or grieving individuals preferred
• Strong ability to respect each patient and family’s unique spiritual and cultural beliefs
• Ability to work effectively in private homes, facilities and hospitals
• Ability to organize, prioritize, manage time well and juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Skilled in crisis intervention
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Virginia driver license, good driving record and reliable transportation
