Job Summary:
Accurately and safely delivers daily radiation treatments to scheduled patients. Ensures patient safety and promotes optimal outcomes while maintaining service excellence and performance efficiency. Interacts with others to promote achievement of department and organizational goals and objectives. Serves as a positive role model for healthcare providers.
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintains daily treatment machine TimePlanner schedules and patient charts.
- Reviews all patient treatment parameters including treatment prescription, treatment-field setup and patient positioning.
- Performs daily patient treatment quality assurance including diode readings and portal image acquisition in accordance with department guidelines.
- Communicates effectively with the patient, patient's family and all others involved with the patient's direct care.
- Completes order entry, activity capture, daily charges and report printing.
- Collects monthly performance improvement information.
- Actively seeks and participates in educational opportunities, both formal and informal, to achieve and maintain knowledge and skill to ensure world class, evidence-based health care for all patients including professional membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Demonstrates a collaborative approach to patient care - is a team player. Seeks ways to support and assist other members of the team.
- Promotes positive inter- and intra-departmental collaboration and communication.
- Provides and ensures safe handoff communication of information pertinent to patient care.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
- Represents department in community activities.
- Assist physics' department in collecting planning CT data.
- Assists nurses as needed with weekly patient vitals.
- Transports patients.
- Ensures department compliance with all environment of care regulations.
Job Specifications:
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Technology and current licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Indiana State Department of Health.
- Minimum of 1 year of practical work experience as a Radiation Therapist or as determined by Radiation Oncology Manager and the Oncology Service Line Director.
