Job Summary: The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and security of all technical infrastructure supporting hospital operations. This includes servers, networks, data storage, hardware platforms, systems integration, and IT service continuity. The role is critical in ensuring system reliability, data integrity, security and technology compliance in a small hospital setting, often requiring a hands-on, versatile approach.
Essential Job Duties:
Infrastructure Management
Manage and mentor a team of engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration and continual learning.
Ensure reliable operation of all systems by supporting servers, storage and backup infrastructure.
Oversee hospital network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi) for connectivity, performance, and security.
Systems Integration & Support
Coordinate integration of medical equipment with hospital IT systems (e.g., HL7/DICOM interfaces).
Ensure compatibility and functionality across departments (radiology, lab, pharmacy, billing).
Security & Compliance
Implement cybersecurity measures including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.
Ensure compliance with healthcare data protection standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, NABH, local laws).
Manage user access, role-based permissions, and regular security audits.
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
Develop and maintain IT disaster recovery plans.
Ensure high availability and failover capability of critical hospital systems.
Conduct regular testing of recovery procedures.
Vendor & Asset Management
Manage contracts and relationships with infrastructure vendors and service providers.
Oversee procurement and lifecycle management of IT hardware and related assets.
Ensure documentation of infrastructure assets and licensing.
Education -- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science and/or related field and/or Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant managerial experience.
Experience -- Minimum 5 years in IT infrastructure roles, including 2 years in a healthcare or highly regulated environment.
Skills and Competencies: -- Strong knowledge of networks, servers and storage systems. AV, telephony and cloud experiences considered a plus.
