The Preventative Maintenance Technician helps with all phases of Hospital equipment, maintenance, and repair. Other areas such as security, remodeling, and grounds are also a requirement of this job.

  • The Preventative Maintenance Technician must be a high school graduate and college courses relating to the position are helpful but not necessary.
  • Must have at least two years experience in building maintenance. Heavy lifting of 75 pounds or more is a normal requirement of this job.
  • Maintain a valid North Dakota Driver’s License and maintain insurability with the facilities insurance carrier.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Safeguarding the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI) in any form including electronic, written or verbal.
  • Exhibits a positive professional approach when dealing with the public, and demonstrates solution-oriented involvement with problems of facility, staff and patients/residents.
  • Attendance and involvement in required quality monitoring programs.
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct routine inspection and testing of plant equipment.
  • Investigate any report of equipment malfunction, and report these findings to Dir.
  • Document repairs, and inspections performed as required in the Preventative Maintenance Program (WORXHUB).
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Works safely abiding by all Facility and Departmental Safety Policies.
  • Complete all required annual safety training.
  • Must be familiar with the policies and procedures of the Engineering Department.
  • Report and or repair any safety violation or condition immediately.
  • Promotes a culture of safety to improve employee safety within the facility and/or the department.
  • Support the Hospital and Departmental Philosophy.
  • Keep a positive attitude in your work.
  • Ability to communicate with public and fellow staff members.
  • Assist in the maintenance of grounds.
  • Assist in remodel of building.
  • Participate in quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement studies as directed by Departmental Manager.
  • Other assigned duties.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, as well as sharps, hazardous materials, and other conditions common to the operation of a physical plant and a health care facility.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires full range of body motion in handling and lifting supplies and equipment, along with bending, stooping, and stretching in the performance of the maintenance and installation of equipment. Manual and finger dexterity along with eye-hand coordination is needed in said work. Requires lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols with ordering supplies and inventories, as well as reading blue prints and schematics. Requires vision and hearing to normal range in the communication with the staff and with site and equipment inspections. Requires working under stressful conditions and some irregular hours in providing for the hospital environment. Requires the use of office equipment such as calculators, computers, telephones, and copiers. Must be able to distinguish colors, letters, and symbols.
