Program Summary
A comprehensive Beacon Community School Model at Bryant School Elementary School. The Good Samaritan FRC Beacon for all TK-5th grade students at Bryant Elementary School fosters and facilitates programs and systems that utilize the San Francisco Beacon Community School Model that is student-centered and provides a safe and supportive culture and climate. We utilize comprehensive strategies for youth development, family partnerships, school transitions, and behavioral health and wellness; providing out of school time and school day academic supports and interventions, enrichment programing, summer learning camp, and opportunities for families to fully engage in their child's academic journey and school community.
Position Summary
The purpose of the Afterschool Program (ASP) Site Assistant is to provide direct service to the participants and perform administrative and operational support as assigned by the Program Manager. As an ASP Site Assistant, you have an opportunity to be a role model for school-aged children and to help create a safe, enriching and fun environment for them to grow. You will work as a team member, supervising and interacting with children in a drop-in setting, as well as supporting the creation and implementation of curriculum and activities. The ASP Site Assistant position will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.
Specific Responsibilities
- Be actively engaged with children in the program daily
- Provide direct service and support to the children as assigned daily by Program Manager
- Create and maintain lesson plans and program curriculum that are grounded in youth development best practices
- Maintain a clean, fun and engaging environment for children
- Uphold and enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Perform daily administrative and operating tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
- Participate in monthly professional development
- Maintain a predetermined work schedule, and be on time for your shifts
- Serve as chaperone on fieldtrips
- Other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Beacon Director
Other Responsibilities
- Represents and advances GSFRC’s mission, values, and culture.
- Participates in scheduled Good Samaritan Team meetings and agency events as needed.
- Participates in GSFRC fundraising events and other key organizational events, as needed.
- Represents the mission and vision of GSFRC at city-wide cohorts, meetings, and committees
- Serves as a positive, solution-oriented team member of GSFRC Bryant Elementary Beacon Site.
- Attends and participates in regular staff and supervision meetings.
- Ensures accurate, complete, and timely time punches to track time and preparation of HR documentation as requested
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Beacon Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent AND passed SFUSD District Instructional Aide Exam; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND passed CBEST; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 48 college units (official transcripts required); OR associate degree or higher.
Desired Qualifications
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
- Understanding of youth development, equity, cultural and community-based work
- Experience working in schools and with diverse communities
Requirements
- Must complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index) after conditional offer is made.
- Must have TB clearance
- Requires a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Must complete and maintain current California Mandated Reporter Training certification, in compliance with California state law.
