Department: Night Youth Care
Supervisor: Night Youth Care Supervisor
Qualifications: 21 years of age with a high school diploma, GED or HiSET
Position Summary: Monitoring the safety and security of all residents, completing bed checks, maintaining security of the buildings, and supervising and assisting residents during their morning routines. This position requires twenty-five (25) hours of training per year.
Special Working Conditions: Awake all night long and working with potentially aggressive adolescent boys.
Schedule: Every Monday and Tuesday 10:30pm - 0830:am
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check in and review the Night Youth Care daily checklist with the Youth Care every evening.
- Check that all designated and exterior doors are secured.
- Check in with the Lead Night YCS at the bottom of every hour.
- Perform and document room/resident checks every 15 minutes or more often if necessary. This procedure must include physical movement or physical evidence such as skin or hair to insure 100% certainty that the individual is present.
- Complete the Night Youthcare log each night and the observation reports for the psychiatrist as needed.
- Check with any visitors or uninvited persons as to their business on Ranch.
- Be willing and able to participate in and/or initiate physical control interventions using Safe Crisis Management techniques when necessary.
- Obtain a valid Class E Missouri driver's license and transport residents if and when necessary.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and supervision through therapeutic interaction with each resident and /or group of residents.
- Attend all necessary training in-services and other applicable meetings.
- Must be a positive role model and be sensitive and responsive to cultural differences in staff and resident populations.
- Assist in keeping the dorm orderly, clean, and organized.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
