Position Purpose
The Maintenance & Remediation Laborer is an entry-level role designed for growth and learning. This position supports multiple departments—including Facility Remediation/Maintenance, DAS, and Engineered Products—by performing semi-skilled services using equipment and processes outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Over time, this role develops into a skilled trades position through training, experience, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Adhere to all safety and environmental policies.
Maintain clean and organized remediation areas, shops, and workspaces.
Support remediation activities under engineering direction, including:
Soil, solid, and wipe sampling
PCB remediation following SOPs and PPE requirements
Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures
Operation of tools and equipment (power tools, drills, grinders, saws, pipe wrenches, etc.)
Facility inspections and concrete remediation work
Assist with assembly and dismantling of equipment, storage shelves, and plant systems.
Perform general facility maintenance: inspections, lawn care, snow removal, and cleanup.
Operate (with training) equipment such as forklifts, bobcats, backhoes, man-lifts, and cranes.
Support assembly of engineered products (e.g., DryMax, SampleSafe, G1 systems) including hydraulic assembly, hydrostatic testing, and quality assurance paperwork.
Skills & Competencies
Attention to detail and pride in maintaining cleanliness.
Basic manufacturing and mechanical aptitude.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Ability to read simple schematics and follow SOPs.
Team-oriented with sound work ethics and initiative.
Ability to observe, identify, and address safety concerns.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior shop, maintenance, or equipment exposure preferred.
OSHA training and equipment operation certifications provided if not already obtained.
Work Environment & Conditions
On-site only: This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Work performed primarily indoors in an industrial/plant environment; occasional outdoor work may be required.
Must wear PPE (Tyvek/KleenGuard suits, gloves, protective boots, etc.) for certain tasks.
Exposure to dust, dirt, oil, fumes, and industrial noise.
Must be respectful, safety-minded, and able to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Tolerance for variable temperatures and industrial smells.
Extended work hours may be required during peak periods.
