Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, medication reminders, and overall condition, reporting any concerns promptly
- Support clients with meal preparation, and nutritional needs to ensure proper diet and hydration
- Help with mobility and transfer techniques using equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods to ensure safety during movement
- Maintain accurate documentation of care plans, patient observations, medication administration, and other relevant records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning personal spaces and common areas to uphold hygiene standards
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and assist with medication administration
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities support needs, or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous
- Knowledge of dementia care, memory care strategies, hospice care practices, and Alzheimer’s care is beneficial
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques including heavy lifting and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts is essential
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications related to healthcare or caregiving are a plus
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and teamwork within caregiving environments are necessary
