The Opportunity
We’re seeking a driven and strategic Inventory Manager to join our team, someone who understands the power of smart acquisition, values operational efficiency, and thrives on building an inventory pipeline that fuels sales and profitability.
This is a high-impact role for a leader who enjoys a team environment, loves solving sourcing challenges, and is passionate about creating a sustainable, auction-independent inventory strategy. You’ll manage our inventory lifecycle from acquisition to sale, partnering closely with Sales and Recon to ensure every vehicle is purchased right, priced to market, and ready on time.
Key Responsibilities
The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory acquisition and sourcing efforts, with a strong emphasis on reducing auction dependency. This includes private-party purchases, alternative sourcing channels, trade-ins, and vehicle consignments. You’ll evaluate market data, appraise vehicles accurately, and negotiate purchases that align with dealership profitability goals.
In this role, you will manage inventory pricing, aging, turn time, and overall vehicle flow through the pipeline. Working closely with the Sales Department, you’ll ensure inventory matches customer demand and sales strategy, while collaborating with the Recon/Service Department to maintain efficient reconditioning timelines and clean retail-ready standards.
You will play a key role in developing and refining our inventory strategy, leveraging data, relationships, and creativity to build a consistent, profitable inventory stream. The ideal candidate brings a history of developing or leading a successful inventory department and understands how great sourcing drives dealership success.
What Success Looks Like
- A diverse, profitable, and consistently replenished inventory sourced primarily through non-auction channels.
- Vehicles move quickly through recon, pricing is competitive, and aging inventory is minimized.
- Inventory supports sales targets, customer needs, and market trends, resulting in faster turn times and improved gross profit.
- Strong collaboration between Sales and Recon that keeps the inventory lifecycle smooth, predictable, and transparent.
- A scalable, efficient inventory operation built on relationships, data, and proven processes.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of building or managing a successful automotive inventory department.
- Experience sourcing vehicles through private-party channels, trade-ins, auctions, and consignments.
- Strong appraisal skills and understanding of retail market trends, wholesale values, and recon cost management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, EOS-driven environment.
- Familiarity with DMS systems, inventory management tools, and valuation software such as Vauto preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive pay plan based on experience and performance.
- Open time-off policy that encourages balance and accountability.
- Significant growth and advancement opportunities as we continue to evolve.
