Role Description The Residential Service Electrician is a full-time, on-site role based in Bergen County, serving residential customers in Northern New Jersey. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues in homes, performing maintenance and repairs, and completing installations such as panels, lighting, EV chargers, and surge protection devices. The role involves conducting thorough inspections, ensuring work complies with local codes and safety standards, and documenting services performed. The Residential Service Electrician will communicate clearly with homeowners, provide honest recommendations, prepare estimates, and maintain a clean and respectful work environment. This role also requires collaborating with the team on scheduling, material needs, and continuous improvement of service quality.
What You’ll Do
- Handle residential service calls, repairs, troubleshooting, and installations
- Diagnose electrical issues and determine safe, code-compliant solutions
- Explain electrical problems and available solutions to homeowners in clear,
- straightforward terms
- Look beyond the immediate issue to spot safety concerns, aging components, or other electrical needs that should be brought to the homeowner’s attention
- Help customers understand their options so they can make informed decisions about their home
- Complete work safely, efficiently, neatly, and to a high standard
- Take responsibility for the service call from arrival through completion
- Keep your company vehicle, tools, materials, and inventory organized
- Use our field-service software to manage job details, estimates, invoices, and service documentation
Qualifications
- 4 years of residential electrical experience
- Strong foundational knowledge in electricity and residential electrical systems.
- Skills in electrical work, including installation, upgrades, and code-compliant wiring.
- Maintenance & repair experience for residential electrical equipment and fixtures.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues safely and efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- EV Charger and Generator experience.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering principles as applied to residential settings.
- Valid electrician license or journeyperson status in New Jersey (or ability to obtain) is preferred.
- Experience in residential service work and customer-facing roles is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Strong commitment to safety, including PPE use and adherence to NEC and local regulations.
- Reliable transportation, punctuality, and ability to work independently in the field.
- Effective verbal communication skills and a professional, respectful approach to homeowners.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship completion is a plus.
