The Recreation Assistant- RecZone is responsible for assisting the Recreation Youth Coordinator and Site Director in the direct implementation and leading of daily activities for the School Year RecZone Program. This position actively engages youth participants, helps maintain a safe and structured environment, monitors children during activities, and supports day-to-day site operations.
General Information
- Department: Parks and Recreation
- Reports To: Recreation Youth Coordinator & Site Director
- Schedule: Monday – Friday (5 days per week)
- Hours: 2:00 PM – 6:15 PM daily (20 – 25 hours per week)
- Employment Term: Part-time ($17.06/hr)
Program Implementation & Activity Leadership
- Provide direct assistance to the Recreation Youth Coordinator and Site Director in executing daily program schedules.
- Lead and facilitate day-to-day activities, including games, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and enrichment projects.
- Help monitor and supervise children during all program components to ensure safety and active engagement.
Site Operations & Support
- Assist in site setup, organization, and thorough cleaning before, during, and after program hours.
- Report all operational, facility, or program issues promptly to the Site Director and Recreation Coordinator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Communication & Community Relations
- Model positive behavior management and follow department guidelines regarding participant conduct.
- Discuss disciplinary matters and updates with parents, Site Director, and the Recreation Youth Coordinator as appropriate.
- Support open, professional communication with participants, team members, and parents.
- Basic knowledge of youth recreation activities, games, and group interaction techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and co-workers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Dependable, energetic, patient, and punctual.
- Age Requirement: Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Licensure: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
