Primary Purpose: Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

Education/Certification: 

  • Master’s degree accredited university (preferred)
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Valid Principal as Instructional Leader EC-12 certificate (preferred)
  • T-TESS certification (preferred)

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers 
  • Ability to coordinate a district-wide program 
  • Ability to interpret data and identify performance gaps 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 

 

Experience: 

  • Three years experience as a classroom teacher 
  • Experience in a district vertical alignment team 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

 

Instructional and Program Management: 

  1. Leads in the development and maintenance of a positive, coordinated educational program designed to meet the needs of all children. 
  2. Guides teachers and specialists through the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instruction. 
  3. Serves as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across subject areas. 
  4. Provides leadership to ensure correlation between district curriculum and state standards.
  5. Monitors changes to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills coordinates implementation and ensures updates to the curriculum. 
  6. Works with individual grade levels and curricular departments to assist them in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of K-12 curriculum documents. 
  7. Facilitates district wide grade level meetings to address consistency of the K-12 scope and sequence of curriculum. 
  8. Assists teaching staff with the implementation of curriculum and instructional materials. 
  9. Uses student data to monitor, guide, and adjust instructional programs. 
  10. Implements follow-up plans for curriculum revisions and instructional materials adoptions. 
  11. Identifies and provides recommended resources to support instruction. 
  12. Serves as Director for the AVID program and monitors implementation across Tier One instruction.

 

Staff Development: 

  1. Develop and conduct or arrange staff development sessions, including sessions on instruction delivery, enriched learning in classroom settings, and new instructional practices in assigned grades and subjects `. 
  2. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in curriculum. 
  3. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. 
  4. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in curriculum classrooms. 
  5. Attend and present current curriculum staff development.
  6. Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals.
  7. Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs. 

 

Other: 

  1. Report regularly to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, providing information regarding the status of curriculum and instruction within the district and staff development needs. 
  2. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  3. Convey information to parents and community members about school programs. .  
  4. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies. 
  5. Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program. 
  6. Perform all other duties as assigned
  7. Successfully advances district initiatives. 

 

Working Conditions: 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
