Position: Counselor

Communicate necessary information regularly to students, staff and parents regarding student progress and student needs. EBuild strong relationships with parents by communicating frequently to inform them of student academic and personal growth. E
Give appropriate, persistent and encouraging feedback. E
Work enthusiastically and collaboratively with colleagues in vertical and horizontal planning in order to meet students‘ individual needs. E
Identify special needs of students and seek additional support as needed. E
Commitment to professional development outside of the classroom and enthusiastically seeking regular observations and feedback from Executive Leadership Team for continued growth. E
Strong commitment to do whatever it takes for all our students to be college ready and live with the mentality that, “Failure is not an option”. E
An unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels. E
Develop, plan implement and evaluate a school counseling and guidance program that includes academic, career, personal and social development. E
Provide school-wide prevention and intervention strategies and counseling services. E
Coordinate events such as parent nights, honor roll, challenge day, college field trips, freshman orientation etc. E
Participate in SST, SARB and intervention meetings. E
Conduct transcript reviews. E
Administer various standardized tests to students. E
Perform related duties as assigned. E Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a valid CA Credential in Pupil Personnel Services specializing in school counseling and passed the CBEST
Valid TB test, CPR and First Aid Certification and Livescan Working Conditions: Environment: Classroom setting Physical Requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents, perform assigned duties; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other classroom equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects.
