Accounting Controller

Position Summary: The Controller will be responsible for leading the financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with state regulations. This individual must have a strong background in finance and accounting, preferably in highly regulated or manufacturing environments, and must be an effective communicator and team leader.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the company’s accounting operations, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of a comprehensive set of controls.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local cannabis regulations and financial reporting requirements.

• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.

• Coordinate audits and ensure timely filing of tax returns and regulatory filings.

• Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

• Collaborate with department heads to monitor financial performance and guide strategic decision-making.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop a finance and accounting team.

• Up to 20% travel around florida

• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. CPA, CMA or MBA a bonus.

• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in accounting/finance, including 3 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role.

• Prior experience in a regulated industry (cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, etc.) is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance.

• Exceptional management, leadership, and communication skills.

• Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Business Central, or similar preferred.

• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

• Must be eligible to work in the cannabis industry under Florida regulations.
