Part-Time Managing Director, Goldenrod Chorale
Goldenrod Chorale is a community chorus in Hoboken NJ centered on the shared experience of singing together. Our mission is to provide joyful musical experiences, especially for those 55 and up; to build connections through music; and to create a supportive community in which everyone’s voice is valued.
We are seeking an organized, collaborative, and proactive Part-Time Managing Director to help advance our mission by overseeing the organization's administrative and operational activities.
Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Artistic Director, the Managing Director serves as the primary point of communication for the organization, building strong relationships with choir members, volunteers, donors, community partners, audiences, and the public. This individual ensures the smooth execution of concerts, fundraising initiatives, communications, and community engagement activities that support the Chorale's mission.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who enjoys connecting people and supporting the arts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities are essential to success in this role.
Responsibilities
Communications & Community Relations
- Serve as the primary administrative contact for choir members, volunteers, board members, donors, community partners, and venues.
- Manage choir communications, newsletters, and other organizational communications.
- Collaborate with Social Media Manager on public communications.
Operations & Concert Management
- Coordinate the administrative aspects of two annual concert seasons, including venue logistics, ticketing, front-of-house operations, volunteers, and receptions.
- Coordinate monthly Community Sings, including scheduling with community partners and coordinating with the accompanist.
- Support one or two additional community performances during the year.
Fundraising & Development
- Coordinate the Hudson Gives fundraising drive.
- Support donor stewardship and other fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board and a Grants Manager.
Leadership & Administration
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director to advance Goldenrod Chorale's mission and strategic goals.
- Support board operations, and organizational compliance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience in nonprofit or arts management is a plus.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a part-time position averaging approximately 2-3 hours per week, including some weekend hours, with additional hours during concert weeks and fundraising drives and minimal hours over the summer months. As a young organization, we expect the responsibilities and compensation for this role to grow over time. This first year the annual compensation is $4,000.
