This role provides hands-on experience in applying software engineering principles within an industrial environment, offering exposure to ERP/MRP systems, machine integration, and process automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Development & Support
- Assist in designing, coding, and testing internal applications for production scheduling, inventory tracking, and workflow automation.
- Support integration between ERP/MRP systems and plant equipment.
- Develop small-scale tools to improve reporting, data visualization, and employee efficiency.
- Data & Systems Management
- Work with databases to ensure accurate data entry, retrieval, and reporting.
- Support data migration, cleaning, and validation projects.
- Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot software-related issues.
- Manufacturing Technology Exposure
- Learn how software interacts with CNC machines, automated cutting systems, and digital controllers.
- Participate in projects that connect shop-floor equipment with plant management systems.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with IT specialists, engineers, and HR/operations teams to understand user needs.
- Document code, workflows, and user instructions (bilingual documentation encouraged: English/Spanish).
- Present project updates and findings to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
- Basic knowledge of databases (SQL, MySQL, or similar).
- Interest in manufacturing systems, ERP/MRP software, or industrial automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
