Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Care Aide to join our vibrant healthcare team. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to ensure residents’ health status is maintained.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease by implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Support residents with assisted living needs by preparing nutritious meals, assisting with feeding if required, and ensuring a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation.
- Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards including first aid procedures and emergency response protocols; respond promptly to incidents or changes in resident condition.
- Drive residents when necessary for appointments or outings while adhering to safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s support strategies, and behavior management techniques.
- Certification or training in first aid is highly desirable; CPR certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting using Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility; must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a caring attitude towards seniors and individuals requiring assistance.
