The Storeroom / Materials Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the maintenance storeroom, MRO inventory management, spare parts strategy, and materials processes that support maintenance and operations reliability. This role ensures the right parts, materials, tools, and supplies are available at the right time while controlling inventory costs and improving asset uptime.
The position oversees storeroom personnel, inventory accuracy, CMMS inventory governance, supplier coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives related to materials management and maintenance support.
Key Responsibilities
Storeroom & Inventory Management
- Lead daily storeroom and materials operations.
- Ensure accurate receiving, storage, issuance, and tracking of MRO inventory.
- Maintain proper inventory levels for:
- Critical spares
- Consumables
- Maintenance repair parts
- Manage inventory optimization initiatives including:
- Min/max levels
- Reorder points
- Inventory turns
- Obsolescence reduction
- Ensure physical storeroom organization and housekeeping standards.
Spare Parts Strategy
- Develop and maintain critical spare parts strategies based on asset criticality and risk.
- Partner with maintenance and reliability teams to identify spare parts requirements.
- Standardize parts and reduce duplicate inventory.
- Support lifecycle planning for equipment spare parts.
CMMS & Inventory System Governance
- Manage inventory and materials data within systems such as CMMS and/or EAM
- Ensure accurate item master data, bin locations, and transaction processing.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and audit compliance.
- Support CMMS governance and materials reporting standards.
Maintenance & Operations Support
- Support maintenance planning and scheduling by ensuring timely parts availability.
- Coordinate materials staging and kitting for planned maintenance and shutdowns.
- Minimize downtime caused by material shortages.
- Support emergency maintenance response with rapid parts coordination.
Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to:
- Source materials
- Expedite critical parts
- Improve lead times
- Resolve shortages
- Evaluate vendor performance related to quality, delivery, and cost.
- Support contract and supplier optimization initiatives.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise storeroom personnel, inventory coordinators, and parts clerks.
- Develop team skills, accountability, and performance standards.
- Establish and monitor storeroom KPIs and daily management systems.
- Promote a culture of safety, organization, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in:
- Inventory accuracy
- Storeroom organization
- Parts availability
- Cost optimization
- Participate in Lean, TPM, and reliability initiatives.
- Support audit readiness and compliance activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for material handling and storage.
- Maintain OSHA and environmental compliance related to inventory management.
- Ensure proper storage of hazardous and regulated materials.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in industrial storeroom, materials, maintenance inventory, or supply chain management.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance environments preferred.
- Strong experience with CMMS, ERP, or inventory management systems.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
