Overview
The Trucking Logistics Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the efficient coordination of all company trucking operations while maintaining compliance with DOT, FMCSA, Teamster, and company requirements. This role serves as the central point of accountability for all union teamsters, fleet documentation, driver qualification records, dispatch operations, regulatory compliance, and communication between project management, shop personnel, the Safety Department, and company leadership.
Required Qualification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in trucking dispatch, transportation logistics, construction operations, or fleet management preferred
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and Teamster regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with telematics systems, Microsoft Office, and fleet management software preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate records
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
Reporting Structure
The Trucking Logistics Manager reports directly to Vice President of Equipment & Field Services and works in close coordination with the Safety Department, Shop Management, Project Management, and Executive Leadership. The position serves as the primary point of contact between drivers, operations personnel, rental trucking providers, and union representatives.
Performance Metrics (Key Performance Indicators
- Dispatch efficiency and on-time fulfillment of project trucking needs
- DOT and FMCSA compliance with minimal audit findings
- Accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing and driver time entry
- Completion and maintenance of driver qualification files and regulatory documentation
- Fleet uptime through proactive communication with Shop Management
- Timely completion of vehicle registrations, renewals, IFTA filings, and compliance reporting
- Accuracy of fuel card audits and mileage tracking
- Effective handling and documentation of driver incidents, grievances, and disciplinary matters
Ongoing / As-Needed Responsibilities
- Manage driver incident reports and maintain organized incident files and cost logs in coordination with the Safety Department
- Coordinate new hire on-boarding: road tests, DOT drug testing, background checks, orientation paperwork, and audit-ready files
- Work closely with Shop Management to monitor fleet maintenance, track down vehicles, communicate driver concerns, and ensure repair records are maintained
- Address driver complaints and effectively communicate with Teamster Business Agents regarding driver grievances
- Maintain HCSS Skills folders
- Maintain DOT qualification files for CDL drivers and medical card holders
- Facilitate Teamster disciplinary actions and documentation with the Safety Department
- Assist with post-accident investigations, reporting, and DOT testing
- Maintain the Authorized Driver List and verify eligibility
- Conduct fuel card audits
- Distribute vehicle recall information
Daily Responsibilities
- Dispatch company-owned trucks and union teamsters
- Coordinate rental trucking needs & Dispatch accordingly
- Perform pre-shift check-ins- in tandem with shop management and batch plant personnel
- Collect driver logs, pre-trips, and RODS
- Review and enter driver timecards into HeavyJob
Weekly Responsibilities
- Review and approve driver payroll. (Entered daily)
- Review of FMCSA Portal and DOT SMS reports
Monthly Responsibilities
- Conduct driver ride-along audits and evaluations
- Track vehicle mileage
- Vehicle Registration renewals and distribution
Quarterly Responsibilities
- Coordinate long-term staffing and fleet planning
- Working with management based on CPM schedule needs to project influxes and proactively advise on new hire or vehicle purchasing needs
- Administer quarterly DOT drug testing
- Collect data and submit IFTA fuel reports
- Maintain DOT compliance binders and keep in audit-ready order throughout the
- Audit HCSS Skills folder
Annual Responsibilities
- Renew IFTA and fuel tax stickers
- Renew UCR registration
- Complete MCS-150 renewal
- Internal self-audit of DOT records
- Assist safety-department in conducting annual DOT training
- Conduct authorized driver eligibility audits
- Complete annual CDL queries
- Issue insurance cards for all fleet vehicles
- Year-end decals and registration stickers.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
