Golden Steps Recovery Nurse Job Descriptions:

As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will be providing skilled nursing services to patients struggling with substance use disorders. Responsible for ongoing assessment, evaluations, harm reduction teaching, stabilization, and monitoring of clients/patients in an in-patient house facility. The Nurse encourages clients to find primary care providers, integrated treatment teams and community providers; as well as support and services to patients from other settings referred to the program for stabilization and assessment. The RN collaborates with team members and outside referral sites and works with providers from addiction and community health settings to assist clients/patients and support their basic needs.

As an RN you are expected to utilize and implement knowledge of nursing standards, policies, procedures, patient rights and ethics, nursing care to clients/patients. Provide medication monitoring and adjust medications within limits prescribed by medical direction or physician order.

Ongoing management of patients receiving medications for addiction and act as a liaison between client and other community caregivers such as pharmacies, insta-cares and emergency services and facilities.

Regular evaluation of client/patient progress, including crisis intervention as appropriate.

Submit timely clinical documentation in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Coordination of services with the client, and all providers involved in the treatment plan.

Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary, with knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.

Providing advocacy as needed to ensure the client/patient knows and understands his/her rights.

Provides information, education and support for client/patient treatment programs and promote wellness, recovery, and skill building to empower the client/patient in managing their own independent healthcare

Assess the client/patient systematically and continuously for both overt and covert signs and symptoms.

Involves the client/patient and appropriate health care providers in collecting data when applicable.

Consistently uses clear, concise, and effective communication, written/oral, and complies with departmental policies when sharing/documenting relevant patient care data.

Provides follow-up care in person and via telephone when needed.

Maintains up-to-date education on current addiction treatment trends, medications, local drug laws and requirements and local resources for those clients needing health care based on primary health care needs.

Participates in a variety of cross-functional teams and performance improvement initiatives.

For New clients: Be on a zoom call for check-in with Dr.-Reorder any meds new/old-Pick up medications from pharmacy and take to house-Put medications in the computer for staff

All clients: Reorder meds as needed (30 days)-communicate with Dr about any med changes needed and update mar after picking up meds

New staff: Train and be available for questions as needed

Old staff: Communicate any med changes or questions you may have.

Hourly pay may vary.

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

Experience:

• Nursing: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• BLS Certification (Preferred)
• RN (Preferred)
