About The Role

A Food Processing Multivac Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Multivac packaging machines within a food production environment, ensuring product quality and compliance with safety regulations. The primary responsibilities includemaintainingpersonal and team safety, adhering to food safety standards, and ensuring product quality. Daily duties in production may include monitoring production lines and quality, operating machines within all areas of the Fresh departments, maintaining housekeeping, loading and lifting, and any other assigned tasks. The role demands a fast-paced, team-oriented approach.Associates must be adept at following established protocols across various departments andare responsible formaintaining a clean work area while effectively managing their time to complete tasks promptly. Work shifts and tasks may vary based on departmental requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Machine Operation:Safely and efficiently utilize computerized screens and controls to set up and operate Multivac packaging equipment.
  • Monitoring and Adjustment:Continuously monitor machine performance, making necessary adjustments to settings to maintain optimal operation and product specifications.
  • Quality Control:Inspect packaging samples to ensure they meet quality standards, are correctly labeled, and comply with product descriptions.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:Perform routine maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing minor parts. Troubleshoot basic mechanical or operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Sanitation & Hygiene:Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines, including SSOPs (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures) and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), using appropriate chemicals and tools for cleaning the equipment and work area.
  • Documentation:Maintain accurate production records and report any irregularities or maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Teamwork & Training:Collaborate with quality control, maintenance teams, and fellow operators. May assist in training new personnel on machine operation and safety protocols.
  • Compliance with all otherdutiesassigned.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must display “hands on knowledge” of all assigned machines and procedures in the Grinding Room,formingarea, Packaging area, Auto Packer area, Scale Room area, and/or Finished Product Robot area.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read andcomprehendsimple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to use effective problem-solving skills.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication,division,in accordance withproduction paperwork.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Physical And Visual Activities

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks in the meat department.
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.
  • Constantly use eye/hand or eye/hand/foot coordination to perform tasks.
  • Constantly twist/turn, talk/hear, and taste/smell.
  • Frequently squat, bend, reach, handle/finger, grip/grasp and use fine motor tasks.
  • Frequentlylift upto 25 lbs. from floor to overhead and carry 30-50 feet.
  • Occasionally climb.
  • Occasionallylift upto 60 lbs. from floor to shoulder level and carry 30 feet.
  • Push 60 lbs. block of frozen meat 1-5 feet.
  • Pull emptycontainers30 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions

  • Constantly work in damp, wet,humidand slippery environments.
  • Constantly work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris.
  • Constantly work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (35-40 degrees).
  • Constantly workinhigh noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Occasionally work in high places and working on equipment causingwhole-bodyvibration.
  • Occasionally work in spiral freezers (-35 - -20 degrees) for dry pickup and/or product jams.

Machines/Tools/Equipment/Software

  • Bump cap, hair net, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, and smock.
  • Rubber and cotton gloves.
  • Machines and conveyors.
  • Bar coding equipment.
