Role Description The Medical Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Walnut Creek, CA. This position supports dermatology providers by preparing exam rooms, taking patient histories and vital signs, and assisting with medical, surgical, and cosmetic procedures. Daily responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, updating electronic medical records, preparing instruments and supplies, and providing patient education on treatments, medications, and aftercare. The role also involves managing front- and back-office tasks such as scheduling, verifying information, processing referrals, and handling phone messages in a timely and professional manner. The Medical Assistant collaborates closely with clinicians and staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and a high-quality patient experience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Medical Assisting, including rooming patients, obtaining vitals, assisting with procedures, and supporting provider workflows.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to dermatology and general outpatient care to accurately communicate and document clinical information.
- Experience in a Medical Office environment, including scheduling, phone etiquette, insurance/registration processes, and coordination of patient flow.
- Strong Patient Care skills, with a focus on empathy, clear communication, confidentiality, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.
- Ability to manage Medical Records in electronic health record (EHR) systems, including accurate documentation, chart preparation, and data entry.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe), and current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
- Previous dermatology, outpatient specialty, or ambulatory care experience is beneficial but not required.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
