The Golden Spike Tower is a private non-profit organization, with a mission to provide an educational and entertaining tourist attraction overlooking the world’s largest railyard. We welcome over 30,000 guests, from all over the world annually. We, as a unique attraction, strive to make meaningful connections with our guests and to provide the “Canteen Spirit” experience that will create loyal return visitors, who will help spread the word about their positive experience with the Golden Spike Tower as well as Union Pacific, North Platte, and Nebraska Tourism. We take pride in making every customer feel like and become a guest who will want not only to return but stay in our community to enjoy our local shopping, dining, and other attractions. These guests will entice others to come and experience what The Golden Spike Tower, North Platte, and Nebraska have to offer.

We have one position available; this position is 15-25 hours per week. Weekends and holidays will be required. Shifts hours may include out of season 8:30am-1:30pm, 1:00pm-6:00pm and during season 8:30am-2:00pm, 12:00pm (noon)-6:00pm and 2:00pm-8:00pm. Training for this position will be hands on and online.
Responsibilities you will have here at the Golden Spike Tower in the guest service position will include but not limited to:
- Welcoming guests with their canteen spirit enthusiasm
- Basic computer skills
- Assisting guest with admission and direction
- Meeting gift shop sale goals
- Cash handling experience
- Preparing cash deposits
- Professional communication skills
- Listening skills
- Having a positive and upbeat personality
- Knowledge of North Platte and/or Nebraska
- Flexible with constant change
- Problem solving skills
- Positive customer service skills
- Able to carry on conversations with guests from next door and around the world (this does include small talk)
- Stocking inventory
- Keeping gift shop organized and appealing to guests
- Answering and forwarding phone calls to the proper person.
The beginning pay for this position will be $10.50-$11.50 depending on customer service experience.
