Position Overview:
The Human Resources Manager will serve as the strategic and operational leader of the HR function, supporting a workforce of over 250 employees across union and non-union environments. This role requires a highly knowledgeable and bilingual professional who can ensure compliance with labor laws, drive HR initiatives, and partner closely with senior leadership, including the CEO to foster a productive, compliant, and inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Strategy and Leadership
- Advise the CEO and senior leadership on HR strategies, labor regulations, and workforce planning.
- Develop, implement, and evolve HR policies and procedures aligned with business goals.
- Lead organizational initiatives on employee engagement, development, and retention.
2. Payroll, Benefits, and HR Systems
- Oversee and process payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax, wage, and benefit deductions (including 401(k) administration).
- Coordinate with finance and accounting teams on reporting and reconciliations.
- Maintain employee records, audits, and system compliance.
3. Compliance and Legal
- Ensure full compliance with New York State and federal labor laws, including FMLA, wage & hour laws, OSHA, and EEO guidelines.
- Handle sensitive HR investigations and regulatory audits.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to compliance and HR operations.
4. Labor Relations
- Manage both union and non-union employees; interface with union representatives as needed.
- Administer collective bargaining agreements and support contract negotiations.
- Address grievances, disciplinary actions, and arbitration processes effectively.
5. Communication and Training
- Deliver presentations and updates to the CEO and company leadership on HR trends, risks, and initiatives.
- Train managers and staff on HR policies, safety, and compliance.
- Support change management efforts and internal communications.
6. HR Administration and Reporting
- Lead talent acquisition, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
- Maintain HR metrics, turnover data, and personnel analytics.
- Use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to prepare HR dashboards and reports.
7. Workforce Budgeting and Labor Modeling
· Support workforce planning and financial forecasting by assisting in labor modeling, budgeting, and headcount analysis, ensuring alignment with operational needs and cost-efficiency goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish (required).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with a proven track record managing both union and non-union workforces.
- System Expertise: Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, including payroll and 401(k) administration.
- Software Skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows-based systems.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with New York State labor laws, FMLA, and federal compliance.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience advising C-level leadership.
- Presentation Skills: Comfortable creating and delivering professional presentations to senior executives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
- Experience in a food manufacturing or distribution environment.
Salary Range: $75K-100K
