Golden Heart Waste Management – Fairbanks, Alaska Full‑time
Golden Heart Waste Management is seeking a skilled, reliable Welder/Fabricator to support equipment repair, custom fabrication, and machinery maintenance across our operations. This role requires strong welding ability, solid fabrication skills, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform GMAW, SMAW welding and plasma cutting on a variety of materials in all positions
- Weld and repair machinery, equipment components, and metal assemblies
- Complete structural welding tasks as needed
- Fabricate brackets, guards, bins, and custom components from drawings or verbal direction
- Safely operate shop tools including saws, grinders, torches, and fabrication equipment
- Follow project direction, meet timelines, and maintain high workmanship standards
- Work independently while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding project needs and progress
- Represent the company professionally by adhering to a client‑appropriate dress code when working in customer‑visible areas
Minimum Requirements
- Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding
- Experience with plasma cutting and general metal fabrication
- Ability to weld on machinery and perform structural welding
- Strong fabrication skills, including layout, fit‑up, and finishing
- Ability to take direction and work independently with little supervision
- Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a hands‑on environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and be entered in a random drug testing pool.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in equipment repair, waste industry fabrication, or heavy‑duty machinery
- Ability to read and interpret drawings or sketches
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting equipment
- Previous shop or field welding experience
- AWS Certification in structural welding would be desired.
