What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cement Mason position at Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District?
Under the direction of the Facilities & Equipment Superintendent, this position performs all types of concrete work at District facilities as required. May perform other duties as assigned within the Streets and Grounds Department, thus, will include working with the Laborers and Bridge Carpenter.

• Operates mechanical finishers, grinding machines and trawling machines

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required
Education and/or Experience:
• Eight years of experience as a Cement Mason
• Apprenticeship training may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis
• Experience in epoxy asphalt is required
Required License:
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI infractions within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis.
• The successful candidate will be required to have or obtain a minimum Commercial “B” Driver’s License, by the completion of probation period

Physical Requirement:
Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to load and unload materials. Work may be performed under hazardous traffic conditions. Must be able to stoop, bend and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to work at heights. Will be required to wear a respirator, or other safety gear. Must be willing to work overtime and special shifts that will require working at night.
This position may have a potential for or actual exposure to lead. Pursuant to OSHA regulations, District employees are not exposed to lead at concentrations greater than 10 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) of air averaged over an 8-hour period.
Knowledge of:
• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position
• All types of concrete work, including form work, use of epoxy, rubbers and magnasite
• Methods, tools and practices of construction labor
Skill in or Ability to:
• Demonstrate Safe work practices
• Read simple blueprints
• Demonstrate basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) for use in material requests, work orders, research, and/or District communications
