What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content Design Intern position at golden eyes project?
golden eyes project | Remote | Approx. 10 hrs/week | Unpaid Educational Internship | 3 Months
golden eyes project is a nonprofit organization harnessing the power of art & design to raise awareness, inspire social change, and develop initiatives that empower children while strengthening their communities.
We’re looking for a creative professional with a passion for visual storytelling, artistic experimentation, & original creative expression to help shape the social presence of a growing nonprofit.
Our Creative Philosophy
We envision gep’s social media as an eclectic art gallery, a collection of bold, diverse, and visually compelling content that inspire curiosity, emotion & connection.
We don’t want our social pages to resemble a traditional nonprofit’s collection of informational graphics. We want audiences to encounter an art-driven organization where every post offers a distinct visual experience.
Rather than relying on text-heavy layouts or repetitive branding, we encourage creative interpretation through imagery, composition, typography, motion & visual storytelling.
Our creative voice is bold, compassionate & playful.
What You’ll Do
You’ll work within a structured, collaborative content development process that provides creative direction while leaving considerable room for individual artistic expression.
- Interpret Creative Briefs: Receive content prompts with clearly defined goals, key messages, suggested calls to action, and supporting references.
- Develop Original Concepts: Translate each prompt into a unique visual direction that communicates its message creatively & effectively.
- Design Digital Content: Create engaging posts, reels & stories using Canva and other available creative resources.
- Collaborate Through Reviews: Share initial concepts for feedback before fully developing each piece, then refine & submit completed content for final approval.
- Prepare & Schedule Content: Organize approved designs and schedule publication through Meta Business Suite.
- Explore Audience Engagement: Monitor published content, engage appropriately with audiences, and observe performance to inform future creative decisions.
Our Creative Workflow
We believe structure should support creativity, not restrict it.
You’ll have access to:
- An organized content calendar with assigned publishing dates & creative prompt briefs.
- Canva templates containing established brand elements, signatures & CTA.
- A visual style guide developed by our Social Media Strategy Advisor.
- Clear review checkpoints and opportunities for feedback from gep Supervisors
Two interns alternate between Creation Weeks, focused on developing & scheduling content, and Engagement Weeks, focused on audience interaction, monitoring performance & applying creative insights.
Our goal is to provide enough direction for you to work confidently & independently while encouraging you to bring your own artistic perspective to every piece.
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to connect with someone who:
- Enjoys creative experimentation and developing original visual concepts.
- Has a strong sense of composition, visual hierarchy, color & storytelling.
- Can communicate ideas visually without relying heavily on written text.
- Is comfortable using Canva or interested in expanding their design skills.
- Enjoys exploring different artistic styles rather than following a single repetitive aesthetic.
- Can interpret creative direction, receive feedback, and work independently.
- Is interested in art, design, regenerative thinking, or social impact.
Students and emerging creatives studying graphic design, visual communication, digital media, fine arts, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Professional design experience is not required. We value creativity, artistic curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience developing original visual content for a growing nonprofit.
- Opportunities to explore different creative styles and strengthen your design portfolio.
- Experience interpreting professional creative briefs and working through a structured review process.
- Exposure to content planning, digital publishing, audience engagement, and performance-informed creative development.
- Opportunities to contribute your artistic perspective to an organizational mission dedicated to empowering children.
