Summary: Provides outstanding guest service to guests and employees during catering functions. Works independently and under supervision to fulfill event orders, including setting-up, completing pre- and post-event side work, taking and serving food and beverage orders, and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Sets up for catering functions according to service orders, completes pre- and post-event side work
- Greets guests in an upbeat and positive manner
- Serves (and occasionally takes orders for) food and beverages and ensures guests are provided outstanding service throughout assigned events according to service standards
- Provides information to guests pertaining to menu items, including description and preparation techniques, and available alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Ensures guest complaints are resolved in an appropriate manner
- Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
- Ensures all food is served within health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Maintains knowledge and complies with all departmental policies, procedures, and service standard expectations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- One year of banquet server experience preferred
- Previous bartending experience preferred
- Experience providing outstanding guest service
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in a high-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Alcohol Awareness
- Health
- Ability to carry a banquet tray with ten dinners
- Walk, stand or stoop up to 100% of the time, including movement on slippery and/or narrow surfaces
- Frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail
- Vision, hearing, speaking, and literacy (critical)
- Need to distinguish between shades of color
- Ability to communicate via radios
- Working inside in a noisy environment that may be include both hot and cold temperatures
