Position Overview
The BSA Operations Officer is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC regulations. The role includes oversight of transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, enhanced due diligence reviews, and providing quality control across all BSA/AML related processes. This position supports the Senior BSA Officer and BSA Officer to assist in managing BSA analysts, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory reporting and audit preparedness.
Job Description
- Supervise and review suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews prepared by analysts.
- Perform quality control reviews of SARs to ensure regulatory accuracy and timely submission to FinCEN.
- Conduct periodic EDD reviews for high-risk customers using public databases, adverse media, and government sources.
- Research and investigate potentially suspicious transactions identified through system alerts, referrals, or subpoenas.
- Coordinate and maintain documentation for OFAC and 314(a)(b) compliance processes.
- Support BSA/AML and OFAC training initiatives and ensure consistent application of program requirements.
- Assist in preparing for internal audits, independent reviews, and regulatory examinations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports summarizing BSA/AML program performance.
- Mentor and train junior BSA analysts to develop investigative and analytical skills.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive BSA/AML experience, including SAR and EDD reviews.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and research skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- In-depth knowledge of BSA/AML, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC requirements.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and report writing ability.
