Job Title: Cavern Naturalist
We are looking for a highly motivated and knowledgeable Cavern Naturalist to join our team. As a Cavern Naturalist, you will be responsible for conducting guided walking tours to educate visitors about the history and geology of the Cavern in an enthusiastic and informative manner. In addition to this, you will also assist with all Visitor Center operations to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience for all visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct guided tours around the Cavern, sharing historical, cultural, and geological facts while engaging visitors in conversation and entertaining them.
- Study and memorize all important information about the Cavern, including its history, ecosystem and geological features, to deliver a knowledgeable and informative tour.
- Utilize excellent communication skills to establish rapport with visitors, answer inquiries, and provide excellent customer service.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, receiving payment for merchandise and making correct change when necessary. Train on opening/closing duties.
- Perform general upkeep of the Visitor Center, including landscaping and housekeeping duties, restocking of merchandise and gem bags, and maintenance of gem panning sluice and food and drink inventory.
- Assist with maintenance projects, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in interpretive walks or related field preferred
- Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be physically fit and possess the ability to stand, walk, lift and carry heavy objects.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
