Role Description The Doula will provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to clients during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with clients for prenatal consultations, creating individualized birth and postpartum support plans, and offering on-call labor support. The role also involves providing newborn care guidance, basic lactation support, and referrals to community resources when appropriate. The Doula will document client interactions, collaborate with other care providers, and uphold Gold Coast Doulas’ standards of compassionate, evidence-based care. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Grand Rapids, MI, with work performed in clients’ homes, birthing facilities, and the community.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in Doula Services, including continuous emotional, physical, and informational support for birthing and postpartum clients.
- Knowledge of Childbirth processes and comfort measures, including understanding of labor stages and common medical interventions.
- Experience with Newborn Care, such as soothing techniques, safe sleep guidance, and supporting family adjustment.
- Skills in Lactation support, including assisting with latch, positioning, and referrals to lactation professionals when needed.
- Strong Labor Support abilities, including advocacy, comfort techniques, and collaboration with medical teams.
- Current or in-progress doula training or certification from a recognized organization (e.g., DONA, CAPPA, or equivalent).
- Ability to work on-call, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with reliable transportation in the Grand Rapids area.
- Excellent communication, boundary-setting, and trauma-informed care skills; commitment to inclusive, non-judgmental support for diverse families.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) and familiarity with perinatal mental health resources are preferred.
