The role requires hands-on experience in designing and developing automation cells, integrating various mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components, and ensuring all designs meet performance, cost, and safety standards.Responsibilities:Design and develop custom automation cells, equipment, and fixtures using 3D CAD software, Solidworks. Create detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and documentation for fabrication and assembly. Design mechanical systems including conveyors, pneumatic actuators, and fixturing to meet specific application requirements. Integrate a variety of sensors (e.g., proximity, photo-electric, vision systems) into equipment designs. Design sheet metal parts for machine frames, enclosures, and brackets, and provide fabrication drawings. Collaborate with fabricators, machinists, and assembly technicians to ensure designs are manufacturable and assembled correctly. Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection. Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes. Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs Travel to client sites required.Qualifications:Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3-5 years relevant industry experience Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of automation equipment, custom machinery, or similar capital equipment. Minimum of 3 years of experience using Solidworks for 3-D modeling. Familiarity with fabrication processes, including machining and sheet metal fabrication. Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) required. Salary : $86,100 - $162,690
