- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures.
- Assist dentists during various dental treatments, including chairside assisting with procedures such as restorations, extractions, and prosthodontics.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and upcoming appointments to promote overall dental health.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by following infection control protocols and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA standards.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
- Assist with specialized procedures in pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, or general dentistry as needed.
- Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to aid diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate accurate documentation and billing processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and infection control practices.
- Experience working with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient records securely.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
