Your New Role:
The Market Development Manager Role is responsible for managing the organization’s global corporate food packaging accounts, driving profitable growth through strategic sales leadership and account development. They will develop, maintain, and expand relationships with targeted key accounts and prospects within the food packaging and CPG markets. They will also achieve annual sales objectives while promoting and leveraging the organizations extrusion capabilities, manufacturing footprint, sustainability initiatives and market presence. Finally they will plan, organize, and execute short – and long-term new business development strategies aligned with customer packaging needs, regulatory requirements & market trends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned corporate food packaging accounts, strategically managing customer relationships to ensure seamless communication, consistency, and long-term partnership alignment.
- Lead business development efforts with major food brands, driving packaging solution partnerships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Continually assess, clarify, validate, and communicate customer packaging requirements, including material specifications, sustainability goals, shelf-life needs, cost targets, and regulatory or food safety considerations.
- Manage and oversee all key global account sales functions, including pricing strategy, contract negotiations, forecasting, order flow, and cross-functional coordination with operations, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams.
- Lead and actively participate in all project-based and ongoing packaging initiatives, including new product launches, packaging conversions, material optimization, and continuous improvement efforts to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Proactively identify and present innovative food packaging solutions that leverage the organization’s manufacturing capabilities, materials expertise, sustainability offerings, and value-added services to grow share of wallet within key accounts.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and long-term account profitability, while mitigating risk related to supply continuity, cost volatility, and compliance.
- Assist in the development and execution of the annual sales and account business plans, providing insights on market trends, food packaging innovations, competitive activity, pricing dynamics, and realistic sales forecasts.
- Execute approved sales strategies while maintaining strong discipline around pipeline management, CRM usage, and performance metrics.
- Represent the organization in a professional and credible manner, acting as a trusted advisor to customers and an internal advocate for account needs.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to food packaging, including adherence to GMPs, customer-specific quality expectations, and internal food safety policies.

What you need:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Packaging Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3 years of B2B sales experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, with demonstrated success in new business development and key account management; experience selling into large, well-established brands or enterprise-level customers is required, while food packaging, CPG or food manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to prospect, qualify, and close new business, including experience selling value-added or technical packaging solutions
- Ability to develop and execute strategic account and territory plans, supported by accurate forecasting, pipeline management and CRM discipline.
