Position Overview Goethe International Charter School (GICS) seeks a dynamic and experienced Middle School Science Teacher who is either experienced in IB MYP or interested in teaching in an inquiry based learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and academic rigor grounded in California State Standards and delivered through the IB MYP framework. Working closely with partner teachers, the IB Coordinator, RSP staff, and administrators, the teacher designs and delivers engaging lessons that foster curiosity, creativity, and global awareness. GICS teachers embrace diversity and learning differences, ensuring that all students have meaningful opportunities to grow. Duties & Responsibilities Design instruction aligned with GICS’s IB MYP framework and CA State Standards. Create culturally responsive lessons that support neurodiverse learners. Integrate inquiry-based and interdisciplinary approaches that build real-world connections. Requirements Bachelor’s degree. IB experience is highly preferred, but not required. Candidates must possess a valid California Single Subject Credential in Social Studies (or equivalent). DOJ/FBI background clearance and current TB test. Cover Letter Resume Current letters (3) of recommendation Transcripts (all undergraduate and graduate coursework) Credential copy Copies of CBEST, CSET, RICA Commitment to collaboration, inquiry, and continuous professional growth. Salary & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package. STRS participation. Working Conditions Physical Abilities: Vision (which may be corrected) – To read small print and maintain records Hearing (which may be corrected) – To communicate with staff, students and parents Speech – To communicate with staff, students and parents Dexterity of hands and fingers – To operate equipment. Hands on tasks with students Sitting/standing for extended periods of time – To perform required duties Strength – To push, pull and carry objects which may weigh up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis
