The Goethe-Institut Boston is seeking a TOP Education Projects Manager to begin work September 1, 2026. This role will collaborate with the TOP Managing Director to plan and implement in-person study tours to Germany for educators, will support program fellows with post-tour curriculum development and workshop leadership, and will manage the TOP Alumni Network and associated educational and alumni initiatives.

Responsibilities include
  • Curriculum Development and Instructional Design:
  • Support program fellows with curriculum design, review submissions and offer feedback
  • Work with educators to develop and publish new social studies and STEM curriculum on contemporary Germany
  • Manage digital TOP Lessons Portal and hard-copy material distribution and inventory
  • Conceptualize, coordinate, and moderate virtual professional development seminars on contemporary Germany
  • Oversee the TOP Alumni Network, conceptualize and implement new education and outreach initiatives
  • Create and post social media content to promote TOP educational materials, workshops and conference, study tours, and alumni projects
  • Support TOP workshop leaders with information and materials, track workshop leadership and attendance
  • Collaborate with other team members to plan, organize, and implement professional development study tours in Germany
  • Lead groups of educators on ten-day professional development study tours in Germany, support participants, and facilitate group dialogue
  • Coordinate program representation at national and state educator conferences, attend some conferences in-person
  • Expense reporting and documentation
  • Website content management
  • Contact database management
Requirements:
  • Professional level fluency in both German and English, minimum B2 preferred
  • University degree (preferred MA/M.Ed.) in the fields of education, international affairs, German studies, or another applicable field
  • Knowledge of current issues in contemporary Germany and the United States, preferred experience living and/or studying in Germany
  • Experience with instructional design and curriculum development, preferred experience working in the U.S. K-12 education system
  • Strong writing and communication skills; confidence with public speaking, presenting, and leading virtual meetings
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to converse easily with new contacts, facilitate meaningful group discussions, manage group social dynamics, and moderate conflict
  • Strong technical skills and experience working with Microsoft 365 and MS Office applications, survey or form applications, social media platforms, content design applications (Canva), website content management systems, and contact database systems
  • Experience using social media to promote events and projects
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours during the week and occasionally on weekends
  • Ability to travel for business or training purposes (for up to two-week stretches), appropriate documentation to enter Germany for travel


The Goethe-Institut offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance and short-term disability insurance (for employees working at least 30 hours per week). After 6 months of employment, all employees are eligible to contribute to a 401(K) plan with up to a 4.5% employer match. Salary estimated based on the local pay scale for Boston.
