Summary
We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and a strong background in land development projects. This role involves helping our engineering and design teams create and modify civil engineering plans, including site layouts, grading, utility designs, and stormwater management systems. The Engineering Technician will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our project deliverables from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify civil engineering drawings and plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Help design land development projects, including site layouts, subdivision plans, grading, and drainage plans.
- Perform calculations for earthwork volumes, stormwater runoff, and utility sizing.
- Draft and detail plans for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to translate design concepts into detailed drawings.
- Review and redline drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and organize project files, including drawings, models, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and verify existing conditions.
- Help prepare project specifications, reports, and permit applications.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or higher, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience (3 years) as an Engineering Technician, Civil Designer, or a similar role.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and land development processes.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to land development and environmental permitting.
- Knowledge of surveying and GIS principles is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with other civil engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, GIS software).
- Experience in a variety of land development projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Familiarity with stormwater management design and calculations.
