This role is ideal for a licensed attorney with experience or a strong interest in EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) representation and removal defense. Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in both detained and non-detained settings
- Handle all aspects of removal defense, including bond hearings, individual hearings, and appeals
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and supporting documents
- Prepare clients and witnesses for court testimony and immigration interviews
- Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other attorneys to ensure thorough and strategic case preparation
- Maintain timely and effective communication with clients and their families
- Stay up to date on evolving immigration policies, EOIR procedures, and legal precedents
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (Illinois preferred)
- 8 years proven experience in immigration law, particularly removal defense and EOIR representation (preferred but not required)
- Fluent in Spanish and English (Preferred)
- Exceptional writing, organizational, and oral advocacy skills
- Strong courtroom presence and confidence managing a full EOIR docket
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay focused under pressure
- Values collaboration, takes initiative, and is passionate about helping others
- Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and integrity in client interactions
