Position Summary
The Director of Finance provides strategic and operational financial leadership for the hotel, including oversight of Food & Beverage financial performance. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, safeguards assets, maintains strong internal controls, and drives profitability. As a key member of the Executive Committee, this role partners with leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term business success.
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the General Manager and Executive Committee
- Analyze financial and operational performance to identify trends and opportunities
- Evaluate financial impact of decisions and recommend corrective actions
- Provide detailed analysis of F&B margins including food cost %, beverage cost %, and labor cost ratios
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP
- Oversee accounting functions including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management
- Maintain strong internal controls across all financial processes
- Ensure timely balance sheet reconciliations
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Monitor performance against budget and prior year
- Provide insights to improve profitability and cost efficiency
Food & Beverage Financial Oversight
- Oversee financial reporting and analysis for all F&B outlets including restaurants, bars, and banquets
- Partner with F&B leadership on menu engineering, pricing, and cost control strategies
- Analyze labor productivity and ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws
- Monitor inventory controls, waste, and shrinkage
- Evaluate banquet and catering profitability
- Support forecasting and budgeting for F&B operations
Compliance & Risk Management (California)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws including CA labor laws
- Oversee tax compliance including sales/use tax and transient occupancy tax
- Ensure compliance with gratuity, service charge, and tip reporting laws
- Manage audits and regulatory reporting
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and develop finance team members
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 8 years progressive experience OR equivalent combinations Hospitality experience required; F&B financial experience strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Knowledge of US GAAP and CA compliance Strong communication and leadership abilities
