Sugar Land Child Care Center seeking energetic and self-motivated, experienced Center Director to join our team. The Director is responsible for managing the program and curriculum as well as ensuring that the school meets all of the Texas minimum standards. Additionally, the director may be responsible for certain business tasks delegated by the owner. The Director's role is typically a salaried position with bonus opportunities, and is based on the School's location, tuition rates and the candidate's education and experience. Positions available immediately*.

General Qualifications: Director must meet the qualifications of his/her state and those set forth in the National Standards for hiring (see www.bls.gov), including the following:

  • The ability to provide effective training to faculty members in performing their responsibilities and complying with all applicable laws, regulations and corporate standards
  • The ability to interact closely with children at their level;
  • The ability to understand and comply with the franchisee’s employment policies;
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents;
  • The ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved
  • Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
  • Previous Director experience in a licensed childcare facility for a minimum of 2 years

Educational Qualifications

One of the following educational requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including 18 semester hours of completed coursework related to young children, birth to age 8.
  • Or a Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field, including 12 hours of completed coursework related to young children, birth to 8, and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool. A candidate with 12 hours of completed coursework must also present you with a written career development plan documenting how and when the remaining six hours of required coursework (ECE or continuing education) will be completed.
  • Or an Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (see list of related degrees and coursework), including 18 semester hours of completed coursework related to young children, birth to age 8, and one year of experience (1560 clock hours) working in a licensed childcare center or preschool and one year of management experience. Candidates must be able to provide documentation of clock hours worked in a childcare center or preschool.
  • Or an Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field, including 12 hours or completed coursework related to young children, birth to age 8, two years (3120 clock hours) experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool and one year of management experience. A candidate with 12 hours of completed course work must also present you with a written career development plan documenting how and when the remaining six hours of required course work (ECE or continuing education) will be completed. Candidates must be able to provide documentation of clock hours worked in a childcare center or preschool.
  • Or Current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential, and an additional 12 semester hours or continuing education units in courses related to young children, birth to age 8, two years (3120 clock hours) experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool and one year of management experience. Candidates must be able to provide documentation of clock hours worked in a childcare center or preschool.

Responsibilities: The Director must be well organized and able to handle many different obligations. The director’s responsibilities include the following:

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Maintain compliance with corporate standards;
  • Maintain accurate records, such as children's and faculty member's files, to meet both the state's and corporate's requirements;
  • Prepare reports as requested by the franchisee;
  • Manage classroom scheduling and schedule faculty members;
  • Review the employee handbook annually;
  • Maintain a school inventory;
  • Plan and implement a program for her or his and the faculty’s professional growth;
  • Prepare periodic reports on the state of the School.

FISCAL

  • Operate the School within budget;
  • Manage the payroll budget;
  • Manage the petty cash;
  • Manage the registration budget;
  • Purchase the classroom equipment and indoor and outdoor supplies;
  • Purchase school supplies and snacks.

LICENSING

  • Initiate and maintain a positive relationship with the licensing agent or agency;
  • Maintain the current licensing documentation;
  • Comply with all current licensing regulations.

PERSONNEL

  • Recruit, interview, hire and manage faculty members;
  • Manage faculty members' schedules;
  • Conduct the faculty orientation;
  • Complete 90-day and annual faculty reviews;
  • Conduct monthly faculty meetings;
  • Maintain accurate child files;
  • Maintain accurate faculty files;
  • Plan and implement in-service meetings for faculty members twice a year;
  • Plan first aid, CPR and any other required training;
  • Plan emergency preparedness training.

PROGRAM, PROGRAM SUPPORT and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Conduct monthly classroom observations;
  • Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development;
  • Plan and implement professional development programs;
  • Actively participate in professional organizations, conferences and lectures;
  • Develop the program and curriculum;
  • Conduct classroom ratio checks throughout the day;
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum within the context of the local school district;
  • Use monthly themes;
  • Incorporate curriculum resources;
  • Plan and implement a year-round calendar;
  • Schedule shared classroom and outdoor space and equipment;
  • Plan and implement procedures for maintaining accurate classroom records;
  • Provide the faculty with assistance in preparing lesson plans and developing themes;
  • Review the lesson plans;
  • Review the Daily Activity Reports;
  • Review children’s portfolios regularly;
  • Ensure that each classroom has an effective management system in place;
  • Plan and schedule visitors and plan and hold activities;
  • Develop and implement a transition system;
  • Implement a playground safety program;

SALES AND MARKETING

  • Welcome all visitors to the School;
  • Answer the telephone using the telephone script;
  • Conduct tours according to the tour guidelines;
  • Follow through with all prospective customers;
  • Enroll new families;
  • Develop and maintain customer relations;
  • Implement an orientation program for new families;
  • Maintain a system of home-school communication, such as the Daily Activity Reports and school newsletter;
  • Conduct meetings with parent(s) or legal guardian(s) when appropriate;
  • Support the development and implementation of the franchisee’s community outreach activities;
  • Organize a student teaching program

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
